Our Ultimate Inheritance in Him.

TEXTS: Colossians 1:12-20
WORD STUDY: The word “inheritance” found in (Colossians 1:12) literally means, “lot”, “portion” or “a person’s share”. The Greek term is {Gr: klēros} which has several meanings, also from where we get the word “Clergy” which means “in Charge”. But focusing on our text, the context in Col. 1:12 is [Gr: kleronomia], “an inheritance,”. This can also be found in Act 26:18. It deals with what God has in grace assigned to the sanctified or believers in Christ. The other keyword “light” [Gr: phōs] talks about God as Light. He is both the Source and the Light. Therefore, believers have inheritance in Christ, the Source of Life and everything that exists just as light is the source of life.
INTRODUCTION: As we move from exploring the Legality of Our Inheritance, we will be considering what our Ultimate Inheritance is. Most people count inheritance mainly from the visible and tangible realities, but the real inheritance of believers resides in us in the person of Jesus Christ. No one knew the Father until Jesus introduced Him; no one knew Jesus until the Father had introduced Him. The greatest gift one can receive from God is the revelation of the Person of the resurrected and victorious Jesus Christ in him. Once the King of kings becomes real to you, nothing on this earth can stand you again!
- GOD NOW WORKS WITHIN US- Philippians 2:13
- God is working with us as believers, building Himself into us!
- God is building His love nature, His righteousness, His faithfulness, His longsuffering in us
- God is equipping us with the fruits of the Spirit necessary for a victorious life of godliness
- God made Jesus in us our Wisdom and our Righteousness- 1 Corinthians 1:30
- GOD MADE JESUS IN US OUR REDEMPTION AND RIGHTEOUSNESS – 2 Cor. 5:18-21
- Our redemption is made possible by the resurrected Christ in us
- Our righteousness is established because of the justification of Christ- 2 Timothy 3:16
- Our victory over the enemy is made possible through His resurrection
- Our salvation is no longer by works, but by the Gift of Christ in us- Romans 10: 9,10
- GOD MADE JESUS OUR ADVOCATE- 1 John 2:1; Job 16:19
- Jesus in us through the Holy Spirit intercedes for us
- Jesus defends us against the accusations of the enemy
- Jesus delivers us from the condemnations and lies of the enemy- Romans 8:1
- Jesus in us reminds us always that we belong to the Father and not to the enemy.
